Kellari Taverna and Samba

Yesterday I went into NYC to meet my daughter’s new puppy, Samba and to take Emily and Jordan to lunch.

This is Emily and Samba hard at work at the office. They were more than ready to take a break for lunch. We went to Kellari Taverna on w. 44th Street.

It is a beautifully appointed restaurant. When you step inside you are immediately taken away from the hustle and bustle of life in New York and transported to a place of beauty and good food and wine; a place to rejuvenate your senses. It was packed with business people eating and drinking and enjoying the ambiance.

Every thing on the menu sounded amazing. They have a business lunch menu, a prix fix menu as well as specials as well as the regular menu. The wine list is extensive.

First off there are some lovely cheeses, olives, radishes, hummus and bread to munch on while you read the menu. The menu is huge but reading it is a pleasure. And if you finish all your appetizers before you are ready to order they will gladly bring you more appetizers. The wait staff are extremely attentive and friendly. Everything sounds absolutely amazing. You can even choose your fish from a bed of ice that is situated near the bar.

Emily and I shared the Greek salad and the grilled octopus and Jordan had the Kellari Burger. I wanted to sample everything and will definitely be back for dinner soon.

The waiter suggested the Pouilly- Fuisse. It was wonderful. Medium bodied with a crisp, clean mineral finish. Loved it!

For dessert we shared the sorbet – choice of two flavors. We chose Blackberry cabernet and raspberry. Great ending to a delicious meal.
